I keep hearing that you aren’t really grown until you are 30. Or that your “Jesus Year” (33) is the year that your life changes.

I don’t know if either of these things are true…although it would be nice to know that all of the craziness of my 20′s and all the bad and impulsive decisions I’ve made in my 20′s can all be blamed on not yet being a grown up.

Let’s go with that. Yeah, nothing was my…

In the 19th century, the father of modern gynecology, J. Marion Sims, conducted his research experiments on enslaved Black women. Sims performed the invasive and torturous procedures without anesthesia. J. Marion Sims’ justification for choosing not to anesthetize his test subjects was that he did not believe Black women felt pain at all. In an 1857 lecture, he stated that it was “not painful enough to justify the trouble.”

"Five, that’s sexist and insulting. You’d never suggest Scooter Libby was screwing Dick Cheney. Four, the lengths you’re going to try to twist this into a conspiracy are cause for concern. You should speak to someone about that. Three, the President is awake and talking and the suggestion that he isn’t is partisan political crap that I thought you had enough integrity to rise above. Two, in the past three minutes, you have called me a criminal, a whore, an idiot, and a liar, so this is pretty much the last time we’ll be speaking, so one, who I am or am not screwing, what I am or am not doing, is no longer any of your damn business."

what a time to be alive

Won’t. He. Do. It.

At 28, in 1959, she [Lorraine Hansberry] wrote that she liked, among other things, “Conversations with James Baldwin” and “MAIL, Lots of it, which I now get.”

She hated “Stupidity” and “Ignorance” and “Loneliness!” and “FEAR,” as well as “Seeing my picture!” and “Reading my interviews.” And, she wrote, “I AM BORED WITH:” “A Raisin in the Sun”; “Most sexual experiences,” and “myself.”

“I want,” she wrote, “To work” and “TO BE IN LOVE!” At the age of 30, she liked

“the insistent penetration of autumn sunlight

and also the fact that I have changed have stayed the same
have grown more self-conscious and — at the same time — become less aware of myself
mushrooms, out of the can
The first drink of scotch
the second
the third

“I dislike,” she wrote, “a goodly number of people” and “that fifth drink of scotch,” along with “the state of the world” and “critics” and “my own pomposity…”

In the list for 1962, Ms. Hansberry wrote, “I regret — (this now comes first; ah age, age: thou art cruel).” She added, “That love is really as elusive as everybody over 30 knows it to be.”

raised by wolves”

It also seemed as we were in a concentration train heading to Auschwitz because everyone was quiet and despondent over the fact that they have to go back to their boring lives and repeat it the next day.”

Yelp MTA Blue Line Reviews are pretty much the epitome of white people who are sheltered and don’t know how to deal with PUBLIC transportation and the fact that there are people of color there. People that get surprised poverty exists in Los Angeles.

UGH!! LA is such a fucked up segregated city where white ppl REALLY just delete all POC and our communities out of their minds. We don’t exist at all  (especially black people..we aren’t their nannys or housekeepers, we don’t work in the kitchens where they eat. I’m pretty sure that most of them see less than 5 of us a week) and when they can’t look away they freak the fuck out.
